John Earl Reinhart: 1928-2013
John was born December 18, 1928 in Eureka, California. He moved to Grants Pass where he graduated from Grants Pass High School. He attended Oregon State University until his father’s death; he then came home to run the family dairy.
He spent the bulk of his working life as a general manager of Auto Wheel Corporation from 1961-2000.
His hobbies included woodworking, sports, and his home. His passion in life was volunteering. He was a long time member and past president of the Grants Pass Rotary Club, where he received the high award for Service Above Self.
He spent over ten years as the driving force behind the development of Riverside West All Sports Park, later named Reinhart Volunteer Park in his honor. The park was built by volunteers with mostly donated money and equipment.
The park is 60 acres and has:
4 Softball fields
2 Baseball fields
3 sand Volleyball courts
12 Horseshoe pits
4 Basketball courts
3 Tennis Courts
There are also 7 reservable shelters and a newly finished “River Vista” area for:

There is also a pedestrian bridge that crosses the Rogue River and leads to Tussing Park on the south side of the river. Relax on the bridge and wave to the jet boats as they roar down towards the rapids.
